so i want to kno how to wire up a push start for my 92 ranger, its standard so how would i bypas the clutch safety switch an everything, but also so that i still need to put the key in the ignition an turn it to the ON position then push the start button.

ok i just have to ask......... why would someone put in a push to start if you are still going to have to put in and turn the key??..... i have seen people mention this in the past and just have never asked. is for security? so that if someone gets your keys they cant just trun it on? but if its a 5 speed just a push will do... i dont mean to sound like an azz by any means just askin...

the reason i want to do this is because some where through the harness the clutch safety line is screw up an dont want to deal with re wiring the whole thing.

There should be a switch on the end of the clutch master cylinder rod that senses when you push in the clutch.

There will be two red or pink wires going to it, you jump these two together, and it bypasses the switch for starting reasons.

There are two points where the ability to trigger the starter can be
interrupted.

The clutch multifunction switch which is mounted coaxially
with the clutch master cylinder pushrod.

Either the switch is physically off, the connector is off
or a wire is broken.

On an automatic trans truck there is a shorting bar that installs in that switch.

The other point where it coud be interrupted is on the wiring harness
that runs down to the reverse light switch, the engine oil temp sensor
and a couple of other things... look for two connectors on the drivers
side inner fender one is black the other grey, on one of them there is
a short wire loop...(on the transmission harness side of the connection)

This short loop replaces the wire that would normally run to the neutral
safety switch on an automatic transmission.
