i just bought a tranny out of a 96 ford explorer and im putting it behind a 93 4.0L. the issue im haveing is the tranny wiring doesnt hook up to my 93 harness. ive thought about getting a 96 wiring harness but then i run into the problem of no pcm under my hood.. any imput on what i should do??

i can fab up a mounting hole for the pcm under the hood just stuck on what to do? :annoyed:

From what info I can find the trans from the 96 will not interchange.Totally different control system. Best solution is trade the 4R55e trans for the correct A4LD.

ive decided to swap out the whole wiring harness from inside the truck and upgrade everything so im hoping it will work..

Fingers crossed lol

All 4.0L transmissions 95 and later are all computer controlled and need an OBD 2 system to operate them, they will not operate on OBD 1 systems...

yea i figured as musck so im tearing everything out and starting from sctratch so its going to an interesting build

Basically you will be changing the entire dash and harness inside the truck, the bulkhead to the engine compartment, the entire engine bay harness (every wire under the hood), and along with that you need to swap out the heater box, underhood power distribution box, pretty much everything...
