I'm trying to wire a carbed chevy 350 motor to a 94 Ranger.

I've already chopped into to the harness a bit with little to no sucess. I'm under the impression that this is not a terribly difficult job for someone with experience wiring ignitions, but this is my first swap.

If anyone can find the time to talk me through this, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Dave

points? electronic ignition? what are you trying to do? how much ignition system did you get with the chevy/how much ford are you trying to reuse? I just figured out the carbed 302 on my 94. It's been running sweet for about a month/month and a half. please say edelbrock/carter carb

please say edelbrock/carter carb

What's wrong w/ Holley? :icon_confused:

Edit: Typical for Ranger to have R/LG hot with key on run & start (eg ignition module/coil - but I ran a relay to isolate that off the key switch), then R/LB is typically the start from the ignition switch... Not real fimilar w/ '94, but the R/LB might be broken if part of the safety circuit came out with the main harness. Same w/ reverse lights. Just have to test and see what you come up with.. EVTM would be a huge help.

Holley is probably the best racing carb. I drive to work every day in my ranger. I just like the warm and fuzzy feeling of reliability of Ed's carb. I've had both spread out, and while Holley may be a better racer, there's less PFM in the E carb and more stone cold reliability. (Pure F-in' Magic)

Boy oh boy are you silly :icon_rofl:. Holley's came on many vehicals from the factory (Fords, Chryslers and Shitrolets :thefinger:) and have proven to be very reliable and can deliver great fuel milage. Holley's are very simple carbs, maybe to simple for some people to understand. I had an 85 mustang GT that came factory with a Holley and that car was a great dailey driver and was alot of fun out at the track every weekend. My Ford F100 had a holley on it and for as long as I owned it I never had any problems with the carb. I can tune you Ranger with a Holley carb and get you better fuel milage and make you more power then that Weber/Edeljunk carb ever will. Have you ever tryed to tune a Weber/Edeljunk carb the right way? I bet that you dont even have a clue on how to do it. :icon_confused: I bet you took you Weber/Edeljunk right out of the box put it on your Ranger set the idel and played with the air/fuel screws on the front and called it good. :dunno:
