Wireless Router questions...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833150015&Tpk=WPN824
that is the router i have and it has been sweet i got all my friends to get it and they love it too the range is insane on it aswell, it covers 500,000 square feet of uninteruppted service this one is like 30 dollars less then what i paid for mine like 3 years ago plus if you have SuperG wireless cards it can deliver 108MBPS

The reviews make it sound pretty good... my problem would be that I have about $50 max to spend right now until I can find more work. Plus I'd probably have to get a new wireless card since my old Cisco card seems to disagree with Netgear routers on a regular basis. Once in awhile it will work with them without complaint, but I'm not sure what model Netgear routers it works fine with and what ones it has complaints about.

I've never had the need to flash a router, but I'm sure it's not too difficult. I've flashed mobo's and peripherals, and that group of college kids on spring break, but I was drunk, so that doesn't count.
If you need some help with it let me know. I've had good experience with Linksys, but I'm sure that Netgear would work fine too.

Here you go. $50 now, $40 after rebate. It's rock solid reliable, and if you want to flash it with Tomato or DD-WRT down the road to try to configure it far beyond what the stock firmware allows, that's an option as well.

The only thing with that one that leaves me hesitant is that the one reviewer says that it doesn't work with older wireless cards and he had to upgrade.... My Cisco wireless card is from 2001......:icon_twisted:

Sounds like a load of carp. Honestly, I'd flash it immediately with the Tomato firmware and set it up that way. I set up a 520GU at my parents house and had no trouble connecting all of their wired and wireless devices to it. Current uptime is 17 days, but the only reason it was rebooted then was because of a settings change that required it. Otherwise, it never gets touched.

Asus makes good stuff but I've never used their routers. I was hesitant a couple years ago when I bought my Asus monitor, but it's pretty damned nice.

ASUS stuff is A+ they have good motherboards and chip sets so i havent ever seen a wireless router from them but everyother ASUS thing i have owned has been reliable and never broke

Also, if you purchase from NewEgg you can get 2.75% back through Live search.

Hmm... might be worth looking into then...

I don't think I've ever owned any Asus stuff... I had one person tell me that their laptops suck, but I dunno. I ended up with an Acer monitor since it had good reviews an was on sale when I built my comp, lol.

Check the link out. If you use PayPal, you can get 2.75% of the purchase price deposited back in your PayPal account later. I've used it several times on purchases through NewEgg or in the past when they tied it into eBay as well (at one point, you could get 30% back on eBay purchases).
