Winter boots....

I tend to stay warm when im active....but...i try to avoid physical activity.

Movement is warmth. Even running a self propelled snowblower can get me pretty sweaty when it's pretty cold and I over dress.

I used to use a blower but now i just use my bucket on the quad. Saves alot of time and energy. My snowblower was always to short and i had to kinda hunch to use it and my back would kill after about 20 min.

I do basically sidewalks for the whole block, my driveway, and 3 of the neigbors driveways. Depending on the snow dump i can be done in 90 min with the quad lol

I help out the neighbor's here and there when needed. The one neighbor has a snow removal business but has a walker and a wheelchair. So, if it looks like they are having trouble clearing their walks, I'll help them out. The neighbor next to me on the right never clears their main walk and my girlfriend's daughter has to walk on it to get to work. So, I clear it. The neighbor next up only has a shovel. So if the snow at the end of their drive gets too deep, I clear that for them. The neighbor to the left, it depends on the situation. They generally keep up on their walk but again, only have a shovel. Since they have a preschooler, I help them out when they get overwhelmed. The neighbor directly across the street, mommy and daddy spoon feed her. I don't do anything for them. The neighbor next to them generally keeps up on his walk but again, only a shovel. So, if it gets too bad, I'll help him out.

I'm kind of tall, so everything is too short. I used to have a Lawn Boy single stage. It worked great except for being too short and didn't work real well with deep heavy snows. I finally got frustrated with it after hurting my back one too many times and anger purchased a nice commercial Husqvarna one.

Snowblowing was great after that. It was hydro-drive, steered with little finger triggers, and had hand warmers. It was still too short but since I didn't have to push it or horse it around it worked well. Another plus was while snowblowing an area in the back for the dogs it would fling all their poop into the neighboring yards. Minus was the yellow snow would blow back in your face if you weren't careful.

I bought a small tractor with a loader a couple years ago, so I don't expect it to ever snow at my house again. Unless the battery dies or it's otherwise inoperable.

It never hurts my feelings if the snowblowers stay parked in the shed for the winter.

My neighbors are all more then capable of doing it themselves. But i like helping out and it gives me brownie points with them that they dont bitch about my antics. Like starting a ranger at 2 am to leave for work without much exhaust, or my little junk pile behind my shed, etc etc.

I had an old montgomery ward single stage. I bought it off CL for 125 bucks. Guy told me it was a 2 stage and i drove 100 mi to get it. It did the job but it was outmatched for anything but light fluffy stuff.

Then i moved up to a brand new yard machines snowblower that was a blowin sumbitch. Self propelled, electric start, etc. But it was heavy and short and my back took a beating with it.

Then i got a 78 MTD (back when tractor in garden tractor meant something) and that thing was an absolute tank. Id put 120 lbs of weight on the drawbar and push anything...in a straight line. But it was a tempermental bitch in the cold and i spent more time keeping it running then plowing.

Thats when i said F it and got the stuff for the quad. I got a big 60' plow i use out at the old house and then the bucket around here. My lowly old 01 500 sportsman pushes more snow in a more timely fashion then my farmall cub and that MTD combined.

LOWA Made in Europe, best boots I ever had man, worn almost daily for the last 5 years

Those look more like work boots though. I got a pair of those lol

I've had a pair of Sorel Crusaders with an extra pair of liners for 25+ years but I don't wear them a lot, only when it's super cold. My day-to-day winter boots now are Timberland PRO series, Thinsulate and Gore-Tex, I like them a lot but it doesn't get below zero often here and waterproof is more important to me than insulation.
My year-round daily shoes are Timberland Waterproof Oxfords, I keep a pair of black and brown each because again, waterproof.
If a snowblower isn't self-propelled I don't see the point. I've used a single stage a time or two and honestly a snow shovel is less work. I have a two-stage because I live on a corner and have over twice as much sidewalk.
