Pull the arm up away from the windshield and there is a little tab right near where it mounts to the linkage that you pull away from the arm and it will pop right off of the splines. Once you pull the tab out (and hold it out) let the wiper go towards the windshield again and it will lock in the release position and makes it easier to wiggle off the splines if there is any corrosion in there.
What he said...but it won't hurt to spray a bit of WD or similar fluid around the base of the wiper...
I pulled mine off and sprayed them with rust paint top and bottom after cleaning up the rust on the spring and the clip...then put a little grease on the knob before reinstalling them...they still look new~!
