Will this increase gas mileage?

Well I've been running the KN cold induction system for 2 years now and it's been fantastic.

My daily commute to / from work is 40 miles in mountain roads, weekly, 200 miles. I burn less than a 1/4 a fuel a week.

20 gal tank, 5 gal. fuel weekly, 200 miles per 5 gal., yeah, I'd say it works.

hahaha. You get 200 miles out of a 1/4 tank. how much you wanna sell that for. I'll buy it right now.

I started with a stock 96 2.3 and my goal was to increase mileage. The first thing I did was get that K&N FIPKII... Bought it used for much less than new. Quite a difference. the original intake entrance hole is about the size of a half dollar. The intake easily tripled that...along with much faster throttle response. Then I put all new plugs in it along with a new timing belt. The new timing belt made a heck of a difference; vehicle was @ 100,000 miles on stock timing belt and plugs. The next thing I did was install an electric fan. After that, a bed cover, then magnaflow exhaust, then just recently replaced the 3.45's to 4.10s. I have yet to calculate mileage with the 4.10s, but with the 3.45's, I was averaging about 24mpg. With the 4.10s I think I'm getting around 27 now.

By the way. I dynoed the truck with and without the FIPKII and saw about a 4-5hp increase across the band on a 100 degree day in high humidity with the aftermarket intake.

On another note. If you don't want to buy the FIPKII, just fab one up like in the tech library. Much cheaper, but not as pretty.
