Why is my damn screen blue!!!

Ok. That was stupid. I guess it wouldn't have a blue line in it that you would see.

It's a medium blue wide stripe to the left of the screen. It's transparent, so I can see what's suppose to be on the screen, it's just highlighted blue in that area. No other lines or stripes.

Screen isn't distorted, everything shows, just has one wide blue racing highlited stripe over stuff.

I can't find anything on line on how to take the lid/screen off. No screws. It looks like the two hinges unsnap and somehow lift off. I'm afraid I'll break it completely if I try to remove it. It's not coming apart easily.

It looks fine in that pic...not sure what blue line yer talking about...

Pict looks fine to me too. That would infer the display is messed us. Perhaps a loose cable but the question that comes to mind is, did you daughter move the computer at all or did it remain safe and scure on the desktop?

I was using it at my parents, took it upstairs and set it on the desk in the bedroom. My son stayed at my parents while the wife, daughter and I went to the mall. My son was with my parents while we were gone. When we got back my daughter went up and used it and said it had the line on it when she started using it. She says she never moved or dropped it. My parents says my son was with them while we were gone.

Does the line fade/blink on and off if you pivot the screen back and forth? I once had a refurbished dell that had the lines that would come and go, and if i got the screen to sit at the right angle, the lines would go away.

Found out later it was actually the wires that went from the mainboard to the LCD screen that were cracked and broken.

BestBuy has a toshiba laptop this Friday for $229 with a printer scanner copier bundled. Unfortunately it has Vista Home installed. Cheaper than having your screen replaced for $200 though Jim.

i have a compaq that does the same thing. the computer guru said it happens all the time with laptops because they are opened and closed so much

My Toshiba Satellite is a wonderful machine and I would buy another no hesitation. Trouble free for 2+ years now. Buttons are worn pretty bad thats all.

I have an old PIII Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop that still works too. That one started on fire once like 5 years ago and Dell fixed it and it still works.

Well, I just discovered that if I pinch the case (lid) above the screen where the blue line is, it goes away. WTF?

Thanks.

I saw this exact computer on ebay for under $100. Thought about buying it for the screen. If I could find a way to fix whatever connection is bad (pinching the top of the case above the blue line) then I wouldn't need it.

I wonder if this screen has a connection at the top of it that could be making connection when I squeeze the top? I would think the connections would be at the bottom.

Sounds Like a bad cable or another part in the inverter board. PM me if you need help

X2

I've had several laptops apart at work and don't remember where the screen usually plugs in.

I have a big paper clip attached to the top of the case (Lid) above where the blue line was and it went away......as long as I leave it on there.

The connector to some of the LCD's are at the top. I fix so many laptops it isn't funny anymore. Pull the screen apart Jim and have

Thanks!

I'll probably take it apart next week when my kids aren't here to bug me. I saw this laptop on ebay under $100.00. I thought about buying it for parts and the screen, but I'll leave the clip on it and say my Christmas funds.
