Why I love the Tacoma.....

Talk is cheap, and people who think toyotas are so great need to find a new forum.

You know, a lot of us feel the same way about you. Why don't you go find a new forum, with other people to annoy.

I am in Buffalo but a friend works for a local auto group and they buy from Manhiem quite a bit and have them hauled in.

Ok. I used to live just 30 up the road from Manhiem.

No, i think its just you and a couple other toyota lovers on a ranger forum.

I'm not a toyota lover. I'd love nothing more than to see Toyota fall off the face of the planet, with Honda, Nissan and you tied to them.

Just because I don't care for a line of cars doesn't mean I need to demean someone else just because they do. I have no problems, on the other hand, railing on someone for being a ignorant, annoying, jerk-off.

...OWNED.
He is very true, just because someone drives a toyota you don't have to get all huffy puffy about anyone who is on this forum with a toyota. Maybe 1 or 2 smart ass comments are in line but you don't have to be a jackass and tell someone to go to a new forum, if you don't like it maybe you should go somewhere else...

Hey, if he'll produce the cash, that's great for you!!

I, for one, think the buyer is a gullible fool who is going to overpay for a truck because he takes the logo on the grille a bit too seriously. I mean it's great the Taco's bring such high resale. But when it comes down it, is really worth paying 2x what you would for a comparable Ranger that will do everything the Taco will?

I mean, in Jason's case, the Ranger did have a higher maintenance cost, but there are also a lot of guys on here who buy a used Ranger and don't have to touch a thing on it for 100,000 miles. Averaged over the millions of each model (Tacoma and Ranger) sold, I bet the maintenance cost of a used Ranger and used Tacoma are within peanuts of each other. I just couldn't see paying sooooo much more for a used truck simply because it has a Toyota logo.

But the resale value is the only reason I'm not out buying a new Ranger right now. I mean, you can't afford to lose 40% of the value when you drive it off the lot. Instead I will keep driving my old POS explorer, that despite it's 18 year age and 190,000 miles, is remarkably trouble free. I think the last thing I had to do was change the oil about 5 months ago. And it had been a while since I fixed anything before that. Still runs like it's new.

If and when the explorer quits, I'll be in a position to buy a new truck. I don't want a new Ranger because the resale value hit. I would look at the Tacoma, but the frame issues and now the gas pedal thing has me scared. I'll probably end up picking up another 10 year old Ranger with 100,000 on it for 3-4 grand and then driving it another 100k miles.
