iv started to notice that my radio doesnt pick up my local radio stations like my moms new edge does or my dad f150 why is that? does my radio just suck or a bad connection? is there a way to amp up my antenna to get better signal? any ideas?

What receiver do you have? Stock? Not all radios are created equal when it comes to pulling in radio frequencies. Has it always had weak reception?

IMO, FM radio is 99% pop horsecrap. Listen to CD's instead. :headbang:

it is an aftermarket dual cd770? i know its a cheap radio came with the truck when i bought it. it is pop crap most of the time, but i do like to catch the ole miss games, when im not home and its crap, b/c i have $100 in speakers and i cant even get a decent signal, and cds are a pain, and im tired of buyin 3.5mm rca jacks every other month for my ipod

because its a dual thats why lol. no my aftermarket h.u's dont get that great of reception either. id replace the antenna.

unbolt the old antenna, cut the wire, snake the new wire anywhere ya want. and bolt the new one in. its about a 10 minute job.

please read my post on antennas

the only way to increase your quality of single is be closer to the source or have a better quality fm tuner.

FM which stands for frec modulation. it uses a range of frecs to create a 1 and 0 type digital code. your antenna can pick up both fm singles or you wouldnt hear any thing but fuzz.

now if your to far away. because it does have limits. the modulation can break down giving you a crapy signal.

or the fm mod in your hu is not the best and cant read the modulation very well and gives you crappy sound.

boosting it will only help in sending signal not getting.

FM is line of sight.

the best fix is to get a digital tuner. and a good one. also will help a lil is to make sure all your connections are tight and thur out your antenna loop

okay, but i dont think its the distance thats the problem both my parents cars 05 and newer get great reception, but my reception does get worse the farther south i go but still, and i do blame the tuner here its only about a 90 dollar radio that came with the truck, i guess ill just have to save up and get a new one.

Well you run in to cheep parts. And older tech. 300 dollar hu 5 years ago will not buy you the same stuff as it will now. And you do t know how well it was installed in your truck
