Why are hipsters taking over the world?

I'm only 27, but they make me feel so old because I do not at all understand hipster style at all.

I will say it is a bit funny to see a "grown" man with a bushy beard and a flannel shirt have absolutely no idea how to even begin to change a tire. I guess they were so busy trying to look like men they forgot to learn how to be men.

They tend to be overly whiney about irrelevant BS too.

To the pajama thing, I dropped the wife at Kohl's last Sunday after lunch and a grown man (early-mid 20's) walked in front of me wearing the pink bunny pajamas from a Christmas Story and a lady/girl behind him in a similar outfit but I think it was a pig. Had the hoods up an everything. :shok:

Sometimes murder should be legal.

I’m a Levi 569 jeans guy. Black t shirt. Flannel. And dc skate shoes. That’s my typical outfit I wear. If I’m going out to a nice place with my wife, I’ll throw my brown boots on and a Levi’s leather jacket.

Don’t even get me started on the damn pajama thing. I’m a school bus driver and some of the god damn drivers will come in wearing effing pajama pants -_-

Sometimes I’d like to just snip a brake line on some of these things. And let natural selection run it’s course.

My wife usually needs to have the heat on 72. Her medications make her feel cold. So pajamas are usually too warm for me. I usually wear shorts to bed. Otherwise, I wear real clothes. Definitely no pajamas out in public.

... and one more thing regarding jeans. They shouldn't be so big and loose that you have to keep a hand on the waist band to keep them up. I don't want to see some kids butt hanging out over his falling off jeans and colored boxer shorts.

Jeez. I sound like a grumpy old man and I'm only 53.

Our dog goes into Orchelens (farm and home store) and Bass Pro sometimes but I would never do a real store like wally world.

Man, I almost want to admire his courage.

But Your Honour, it *is* rabbit hunting season..... WHAT?! You mean that WASN'T A RABBIT?!

I don't wear pajamas around the house but I like them under my pants for layers. I don't like long johns because they are too tight and sometimes itchy.

fleece lined long johns is the way to go. I never wear regular long johns.

I have had some thermal jeans, but I only wore them when I had to go out and shovel snow, or work in the cold. The only pair of coveralls I have are insulated.

As an 18yo college student, I think I have a different perspective that could help the conversation. So, I go to college every day basically and there's always people (typically women) in pajama pants, sweat pants, or those tight yoga pants (I don't mind those at all ;P). It's like everyone has two sides to themselves: the sloppy styleless side that doesn't care and the side that cares too much and puts on a dress and makeup for no reason. Personally, I don't have a sense of style, I've always been a quiet kid, never had many friends so I was never on the "style train" as they call it. I always wear plain Eddie Bauer t-shirts with basketball shorts and a pair of training shoes. Lately I've been experimenting with the cold weather, I hate blue jeans because they're so darn uncomfortable. Every time I sit down with blue jeans, my dangly bits are squished (maybe TMI lol). I've been experimenting with these new sweatpant type things called joggers and plain nike sneakers, and I have to say it is extremely comfortable. And I don't feel like an idiot walking around as a 250lb man in basketball shorts and Nike training shoes in 35 degree weather. So there's my $.02, take it as you will.

Edit: Wanted to add, I'm born and raised in Louisiana, so I'm familiar with the boots and jeans wearing type. Basically I'm saying that I grew up with the option of boots and jeans without looking outta place, just never chose that route.

I wear jeans more for the durability than anything.

Had to wear khakis at one job, tore and stained if you looked at them wrong (perfect when you work in the R&D department at a bucket truck company and have to climb all over/under trucks) Hated them. I don't care for shorts either, walking thru tall grass and weeds will get you all sorts of surprises in shorts.

Jeans don't stain as easy and are much more tear resistant than most fabrics. Probably why so many wear them.

I don't worry about fitting in, I also always wear a new fangled leatherman rather than John Deere or C-T pliers in a holster like most of the guys in my area. I go with what works for me.

Same for my boots, waterproof, tough and good ankle support for uneven terrain.

And I couldn't help but admire the bunny guy's courage. He is braver than I am.

My favorite jeans have tears in them. when I was a kid we would cut those jeans off into shorts. Now buying jeans with tears in them is a style

I guess my biggest thing is, when did it become the norm, for a man to dress like a woman. I just don’t understand it. And Franky. I don’t think I want to understand it.

I put tears in mine with style, like getting on and off farm equipment. Usually beyond salvaging as shorts... and I don't wear shorts anyway.

Know thy enemy and know yourself; in a hundred battles, you will never be defeated.

I wear dungarees, boondockers & t-shirts year round. It will never go out of style.

Cold weather has me wearing long johns, thick socks & layers of upper body clothing including a hoodie-

ETA: we call skinny jeans cigarette pants around here-
