I look at all the 95-01 consoles and they have no place for the shifter to come through?

I've seen a few manual explorers out at the u-pull but they always have the console already pulled...is this why because they are so rare and everyone wants an explorer console? lol.

I'm mainly wanting to do it so I can wire in most of the info center stuff into the truck but its looking like that may not be possible and I'll have to go with a 91-94 console...:bawling:

I obviously dont see anywhere feasable to pull something for the shifter where it wont look like crap.

The info center will not work with a Ranger anyway. There are other sensors and wiring that an Explorer has to make the info center work that the Ranger doesn't. And before you ask, those sensors and wiring can't be adapted to a Ranger. The only way to get the sensors is to swap in a complete engine, engine wiring, dash wiring, etc. from an Explorer.

there is a guy that has done it with the 5.0 swap and baisicly put the whole explorer wire harness in his truck. i think it was bob someone else will chime in i know

Yes he did, however, he did a lot of custom wiring for the Explorer v8 he installed.

That lined up with the Gen 1 dash very well.

The cubby hole in the first section of the console is just screwed in from the bottom, you need to take it out and cut the center out of it so that you just have a plastic frame left that you can use to wrap the bottom of the shift boot around. Then screw it back on to clamp the bottom of the boot in place. I made a temporary boot with some cheap fabric form wal-mart, I just cut two triangles out and stitched them together on two sides then wrapped the open end around the plastic frame. I tried using a boot from an early 90's S10, but it looks a little goofy at the top.

heres my first boot

i kno i was very surprised myself, thought id have to do some more cutting and glassing but im pleased with it. i also glassed in the lower pocket of the front of the console to accept two gauges.

I'd like to get an explorer console for my ranger. Is it pretty much bolt in? (besides obvious modification for shifter)
Also how much have you guys paid for the consoles? From junk yards I'm assuming?

Its pretty much bolt in, I payed like ten bucks for mine.

To the one that made his shift boot: please pm me how you
made it. I'm gna stArt a complete fiberglass console but am unsure how to make a shift boot. That's the only part holding me back.
