Who is stuck working today?

Blue, Have you tried the Montecristo's before? I'd definitely like to try them. How do they compare to the Cohibas?

I tried the Montecristo Classic, got one in a sampler in the Churchill size. It was a nice smooth smoke but tasted too earthy/woody for my preference. I haven't tried a Cohiba yet, I came close a couple times, but I'd really like to smoke one and the next day have the other so I could compare them since both Cohibas are not from the same place if you get my drift. So far though I've found myself gravitating towards the Maduro wrappers though, I had a Macanudo a couple weeks ago, nice smoke, really flavorful (liked it better than the Montecristo) but kinda on the mild side. Then I had a Macanudo Maduro and loved it. Kinda chocolate/coffee flavor.

Wire might have gotten damaged, broken, or burnt part way down...might have to trace it back I've start from the fuse back. If the fuse has power check the back of the fuse block the female insert might have gotten pushed out or something.

It took a bit of tracing but I finally found where the wire was broke. Actually there were four broken wires, almost looked like they were nicked with a knife at some point. :icon_confused:

Also is there a relay? Might be that too

Thought about that....

My wife is working 7 to 7 today, so I slept in, went out and putzed in the garage a bit, my dad came over, a dana 28 fell on my a few minutes later, so we threw it out in the yard and put a 35 in it's place. Now my truck has a D-35 and working 4x4 again. Too bad I had to ditch luxury options like steering and brakes to get it.

:icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

My D-35 has steering but no brakes or 4x4 yet. Got those extendable control arms too....:icon_rofl:

Well, the one steering link is bent, and so when both rod ends are in the knuckles it has the connection for the pitman arm upside down. That won't work.

Then I decided to put new hoses on it while I was doing all this, rounded off a fitting on a hard line. Decided it would be easier to cut the line, yank the hose, and get a new hard line. It's labor day, all the parts stores were closed.

Oh yeah, 87 front shocks, don't go on the pins for a 96.

lol! Autozone should have been open regular hours. I know because I called and ordered a part this afternoon. Actually since most of their stores are open till 9pm, they're probably still open.

I know about the shock issue. But since one of my pins was broken, I needed to replace it anyway. So I'm going to weld on some pre-cut shock tabs and see how that works out.

That would be a viable solution if I dealt with AutoZone for anything other than really basic stuff. Electrical connectors, wire, light bulbs, and washer fluid. That kind of stuff.

If it is a part they have to look up and pull for me, I am willing to wait until tomorrow to deal with Napa.

I also do that with autozone.... if its important, or has moving parts, don't buy it from autozone!

I tend to look up my own parts there. They've found it easier that way. I'll get a lot of stuff like hoses, brakes and the like. Something like a slave cylinder, ehh, probably not. Not since the first "lifetime" warrantied one blew out in the first 3 months...

I buy from callahan auto parts, you don't need a warranty on the box.

If you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I've got spare time.

Oh, I usually walk into my local NAPA with a list of part numbers. It's not that I don't trust those guys, it's just that I usually look the stuff up on-line first to see if they have it, and since I am there I write down the PN to save time when I get to the store.

Seems the people of Garnett get kinda ticked off when there is no power or water, so at the plant I am. Get off in two hours, at midnight. :annoyed:

I share your frustrations with autozone, advanced auto, and even orielly's around here, especially since I live 30 miles from any of those. More often than not I end up behind the counter, looking up parts, and pointing at the number and telling the employees to go pick it for me. It kinda sucks cause the Napa here is just a jobber store, not a full franchise, so they are only open 8-5:30 weekdays and 8-noon on saturdays, closed sundays and any other holiday.

I have to say that I hate my local Napa. I've made the mistake of trying to get parts there before. After standing in line for a half hour, I nearly had to put a gun (not literally, obviously!) the chain smoker's head to get him to crack a book and actually look for the parts. Nobody in the store seemed to want to do anything but sit at the counter, smoke, and talk. An effort to actually find a part is too much like work, it's not allowed apparently.

There are three local Advance stores.... none of them are worth going to unless you have a part number with you. Most of the employees seem to have trouble finding their own rear with both hands. I went to one once in search of a spring compressor, told the kid that I wanted a spring compressor but NOT the macpherson strut compressor. After bobbing his head several times and assuring me that he knew what I was talking about when I kept explaining what I wanted, he scurried in the back. After 5 minutes or so of searching, he enlisted the help of someone else. Another 5 minutes or so goes by and he proudly brings me a spring compressor..... the macpherson one. *sigh*

Autozone lets me search for my own stuff. They've gotten tired of going on the hunt for something. They did have some decent people but now they're down to just two (and one is moving to another store).

My only other option is Hovis. No real complaints there.

Aside from that, the UPS guy brings the rest of the parts, lol.

that's why I go to the Napa the next town over from work which is the store we deal with through work (so I get a decent discount when one is available), the one in town doesn't know anything... It's always hard getting straight what vehicle the part I want is from to get what I want though... depending on what I need it could be a mid '90's Suburban (front brake lines), Turbocoupe of various years, or mostly '91-94 explorer...

The only work I had to do today was pull my drivetrain, got all 3 components out right when it got dark, tomorrow I start scraping off goo and if I get that far pulling the head to figure out what all I need for the engine rebuild, gonna order the tranny rebuild tonight...

:icon_rofl: the truth hurts !!
Worked 5pm-1:30am....Another Day, Another Dollar-
Only if you're bright enough to be aware of the fact! :icon_rofl:

When my kids were little, I worked all the OT offered me. I stopped when the kids grew up. I used to work in the phone business, that's a 24x7 operation. So to all you guys working, Cheers.
