whine noise from subs

technically, you should have your power wires on one side and the rca's on the other..

i moved them away from each other while playing the subs but i didnt see no difference but maybe i didnt move them far away from each other.But why does it only do it on full and not a lpf?The subs are good on lpf but on full or hpf u can hear the engine running should i even run full or hpf on subs or is that for speakers?

lpf is low pass filter.

it is so the subs only play deep tones. subs arent meant to be run on full.

i had this happen to me with my last amp and the amp died a week later.

with my new amp i took the 4guage wire and put two crimp on leads on it so i had two ground spots for one wire. dont know weather it was the amp or the ground but, it all works fine now.

oh and i use a monoblock amp (sub amp) wich only has one channel and only has a lpf

maybe i should just play it on lpf then but i kinda wanted to run it on hpf or full cause with that it also plays music not just hits.but i did see when i got the amp from the guy i bought it from it also had it on lpf so maybe i should just leave it on that.

i run mine on lpf because i have two 8 inch subs w/ an 800 watt amp, im running them bridged, and they sound terrible on full.

like i said subs are meant to only run on lpf... running it on full kinda defeats the purpose of having a sub

Yea LPF for sure, also, just an idea, I had a radio once with the sub rca's having a bad ground on the jacks themselves. I wrapped the outside of the jacks with stripped wire, and wrapped the end to a screw on the case of the radio, it gave the same symptom as a bad ground anywhere else int he circuit. You can try a gorund loop isolator too, i never used one, but they are made to aid in that problem.

I have two 12"s and am going to run them on lpf and there also bridged.I was reading and found that hpf is mainly for tweeters and full doesnt have a filter so lpf it is.its just not meant to be ran on lpf and full thats where the whine nosie comes from.but thanks for all the help guys.I got two more questions what if i want to run speakers off of the amp? i cant just put it on lpf and play it would i have to disconnect the subs then hook the speakers up?and my other question is does anyone know what size the stock speakers are in the dash on a 88 super cab ranger?

where do you put a ground loop isolator?just use it instead of rcas?

I got a pari of 6x8 alpines to replace my back factory speakers i was going to hook them into my amp because i have another channel free its a two channel amp bridged to two subs so i have another channel and i was thinking about putting both speakers in one channel so it wouldnt be over powered.i could use my amp on lpf right now until i hook my alpines up then buy a ground loop isolator i think that will fix the whine noise.
