which year body is better?

My vote would be an early third gen so you have a wider variety of body parts available and better chances of finding a solid one. The later ones (95-97) have an all electronic dash that may cause issues.

79 F150 body beats the HELL out of a ranger body any day of the WEEK imho.

i agree on looks. but i dont want to patch the floors again lol. plus it always seems like people want to ride with me whether its my kid or whomever. always a truck full. guess i could try to find a ex. cab 79ish.

As far as structural integrity goes 83-88 (1st gen) wins hand down. Unless you compare it to the 79 F150 body....

Dustin

is there a big weight difference from 79 f150 cab to ranger cab. i have a wood flatbed now so box weight will be more.

Yes, the all steel dash alone in the 79 pry weighs half as much as the rangers whole cab does, not to metion the extra steel in the rest of the structure...

Negative, a rangers big bulky thick plastic dash weighs about the same if not more, but yes, the body is quite heavier

1st generation dashes have quite a bit of steel in them too.
