i am a detroit native...so the closing of all the small shops is a double bummer, last i knew lideo was full bore, and he is bout the best sbf efi specialist imo as well. been around a long long time kicking some serious ass.

No matter what block you end up using, best to use the Explorer front engine dress. There were a lot of changes from the 2000 Ranger to the '01' that make the swap even harder. Mechanicaly it's still really easy but the wiring is a lot different. The Ranger and Explorer now have two different types of PATS and a few other things that make it harder.
I sent you a PM explaining some of the differences. You have an Edge so the Explorer motor mounts will work.

If you need a wiring harness and ECU from a 98 explorer let me know. I also have the harness from under the dash with the Anti teft module. I even have the steering column to go with it. I am doing a V8 swap and I decided to go with a carb instead. I am located in Livonia. Send me a PM if interested.

the explorer 5.0 has gt-40p heads on it a better cam and the intake runners are round like the cobra intake just something to consider

Also if the front FEAD of the explorer will work better for your swap I have that. If you have the FEAD off of the Mustang engine we could trade because it does not matter which one I use in my truck.
