Which is a better wheeling rig for me, Chrokee or B2?

Stock vs stock, I am with johnny
Having owned bolth, I can honestly say that my cherokee does better.
As for the weak 35 rear, its not the only axle availible. I have a 8.25 that has held up so far. Of course I have a explorer 8.8 ready to swap in if I break it.

That being said, I dont plan on modifying my cherokee much. I still prefer my ranger over it, It was just time for a new DD, and the jeep fell in the price range

Looks like you have the info you need to make the right choice for yourself.

Most of the guys I wheel with have 2 door xj's with the chrysler 8.25 rear and the manual trannys. Although they say the auto is strong, when you put it in low and put the auto shifter into 2 (they don't have 1) it will go into first and stay there until you hit redline and shift into second. I've seen most of them flex very well without just a basic lift, front swaybar disconects, and just remove the rear sway bar because I quote "the rear bars on this thing don't do anything!!"

Cherokees are shit cans. They are smaller inside than a BII, and an explorer is in another league compared to it. Everyone I know that has wheeled them has had the unibody come apart at the seams and has transfered the drive train to a Wrangler cause it has a frame...

The only redeeming qualities of an XJ is the 4.0 and sold front axle. The rest is shit. The 4 doors have useless tiny door openings and you better be less than 6' foot tall if you want to sit somewhat upright and not be jammed against the headliner. The uber tall rockers are very annoying to swing your feet and legs over when stepping in/out.

Build a RBV with a solid axle and you'd wonder why you even considered the garbage can of the jeep line...

That pretty much sums it up. Another thing if you want to attach a bumper to to use as a recovery point (because they have jack shit for recovery points) you gotta run like 17 different braces to all parts of body (not the "frame") because if you don't you'll tear the shit outta that unibody.

Have you ever seen a Comanche with the bed off? Be Afraid, be Very afraid!

I had a cherokee for about two years and really began to hate the thing. When it sold I couldn't be happier. It had so many problems that I had to fix it dove me nuts. If you want a b2 get one. Just pull the dana 28 out and put in a dana 35. Easy as hell to do and the rest of the truck is good to go.
