It sounds like the workers at that plant feel let down by there employer, knowing it's just a matter of time before the doors close and there looking for an other job; somewhere. That must really suck for them. I'm not trying to sound over patriotic but the made in USA thing still means something to me I only wish we'd taken the foreign markets more seriously when we had the chance. I'm not knocking the Asians, they are what they are; I only wish the big three were still The Big Three.
I can relate about made in the USA, unfortunately it's just assembled in the USA if were lucky. I'm a truck driver and deliver to a lot of Ford plants and the majority of the parts that come off my trailer are made in Mexico or China along with other drivers. A lot of the problem is the quality of parts from the part suppliers of the Big Three there junk. The Big Three had their wake-up call 30 years ago from the Japanese on how they do business, and they chose to ignore the fact that either they change the way of doing business or some day they would be filing for bankruptcy. The quality of a vehicle is critical, especially since they cost so much. The Big Three were only concerned about production numbers and profits and then when gasoline went over $4 a gallon they got caught with their pants down with no fuel efficient vehicles in their line-up. Hopefully the Big Three has learned a lesson by this and be back to making quality and reliable vehicles.
