Wheres My Speedometer cable? 1983?

I Looked in my chiltons...

and searched on here...

WHere is it located im having a problem in which i start it up and it goes automatically past 85 mph redline still in 1st gear lol....

Any help?

Suggestions?

Exactly where is it going? The TCase?

Typically, the speedo cable feeds down from the dash (you can remove the dash cluster to disconnect the speedo) and down by the gas pedal through the firewall..if you peel back the carpet you should see the speedo bolted to the floorboards...

Then it winds under the tranny and connects into the tranny on the drivers side...pretty easy to follow...but on the 2.8 it may actually cross over to the passenger side...

I looked by my firewall and had no luck
Tried removing my cluster and failed Couldnt get it out it was to tight to get back there

The cable runs down the firewall to the right side of the steering column.

It's actually clamped to the plate that seals the steering column where
it goes through the firewall...

Im sure i have a problem some where in the tranny with the gear stuff...

I just could not find it going through the firewall?

Ill start from one end lol!
