where to hook up after marker oil pressure line on 99 4.0?

im going to install a after market oil pressure gauge on my 99 ranger with a 4.0 but am not too sure where to tap into the engine at? also is a mechanical better then a electric gauge? thanks

mechanical gauges are always better than electrical (unless your measureing the electrical system of coarse).

the pressure port on the 4.0 is on the drivers front corner of the engine block. you'll have to buy a 1/4" NPT "T" if you dont want your factory gauge to be pegged on low with the "check gauge" light on the whole time.

Just a word to the wise: The mechanical guage, as far as I am concerned, is much better than the mechanical - especially for an engine that cracks heads so easily when it overheats.

But . . . Run the thermister wire through your mounting, then route it through your motor, and then attach the bulb to the engine. If you leave off the mounting you have to undo the whole thing. Makes youfeel foolish.

sounds like your thinking of a mechanical water temp gauge.

a mechanical oil pressure gauge can be disconnected at the gauge or the engine...so no worries if you run the tubing without the gauge installed in its mount.

The older you get all of your experiences seem to blend together - I installed a temp and oil gauge at the same time - thanks to Sludge and DUH to me.
