hey, i have a 95 ranger D35 up front, 8.8in in the back. does anyone know where i can find cromoly axle shafts, front or back for these axles? also, how well do the stock axles hold up to 35" tires with the front and rear locked?

Yukon sells aftermarket shafts, so does superior gear and axle for the 8.8.

Asfor the d35 you're SOL for aftermarket shafts (you can get just the outers in chromo)

If you upgrade your front axle shaft u joints to spicer 760X joints and run them with the full circlip mod the D35 will handle just as much abuse as a d44 will.

The rear 28 spline 8.8 I would definitely recommend upgrading to aftermarket shafts, or swapping in a 31 spline 8.8 out of a 91-01 explorer. And run a full carrier locker like a detroit for maximum strength as the carrier is the weak point of the 8.8.

I ran 35x15.5s on a SLA D35 and 28 Spline 8.8" for a while no problems. But that was open open. But I did rhomp on that bitch.

If I could do it again, I would have given the D35 another chance before my SAS, but with the cromo outers, and a set of super joints. With 35's, I always broke the u-joint cross before the ears broke, even with full clipped 760's. I would be curious to see how strong that setup would be.

I am unfamillier with the circlip mod. Is it just a c-clip eliminator for the passenger side? also, is the spicer 760x joint the same as the stock one, or will i have to do something to the axle shafts to make it fit?
