sorry to be lump but what was the benefit of joining a group to see the tailgate?

i understand the reasons that compelled jim to make a change but i guess i don't understand the mechanism?

is it so you can ban unrully peeps from that forum without being banned from the site?
or so random (young)family members don't see trash? but wouldn't they see it if you joined?

Pretty much your second reason. Its just a little bit of a security feature. If you join the group and your kid sees something you dont want them to, then its your fault. Also this way it doesnt show up in the top new posts on the main page.
