Where is the "door ajar" switch? My interior light will not go out and the "door ajar" light on the dash lights up when the door is firmly closed. I can't find a switch on the door or door jam that would trigger it.

It's in the door behind the latch. There's a wire harness that plugs into it. I just sprayed a crapload of PB Blaster into my passenger side door switch so my dome light would go off when the door was closed. Try spraying some WD40 or silicone spray in there. It might free it up.

They get stuck sometimes.

Thanks Allen,

Where should I spray it. Into the latch from the outside? Or did you take off the interior door panel to get access to it?

I just sprayed the hell out of it through the latch without taking the panel off or anything. Then I cycled the door opened and closed and the light turned off the first time I did it.

I sprayed enough fluid so that it was necessary to wipe the excess that was rolling down the door....lol.

Hope it frees up for you, otherwise you'll have to remove the panel and locate it and then rotate it counterclockwise (if I remember right) to get it out.

Thanks for that advice Hardwareman. I sprayed the crap out of the latch as you suggested. Light went out .........:yahoo::yahoo:........FOR NOW!!

worked for me too thanks you guys i dont have a ford but my mother in law does and she was freakin out about her inside lights beingon i belong to naxja which is for jeep cherokee owners and i figured id find something on the web to help me get her lights off and sure enough bam here it was if any of yall also own a cherokee c,mon over to naxja.com many knowledgeable people on there like here thanks again.... ken

Thanks guys fixed my door ajar issue with a load of WD-40 as well.........THANKS now on to MAF sensor issue.

FWIW, I just had the chime and light problem and WD40 into the door latch area fixed it right up. I also shot some into the hinges for the plastic handle since that seemed a bit sticky too. Now that is real easy to pull open.

I will add that I plan to add these 2 things to my to do list when I do my oil changes.
