wheel bearing issue?

I already ordered inner and outer wheel bearings (and seals), what else should I order?
Spindle bearing if you think that has too much play, and the seal that goes with it. See the drawing and parts list I linked.

You do need a special socket to remove and install the spindle nuts.

I also have a spindle bearing greaser that you thread onto the spindle and give a couple pumps of grease down the spindle to the bearing. You just can't go crazy with the grease or you will blow the spindle bearing seal.

The nut holding the outer wheel bearing in has sectioned slots for the dowel to slide into. I gave a very light torque down, and then backed it off just enough to catch the next nearest dowel slot.

With tire installed, off the ground, I can wiggle it pretty good.
With tire off, hub and rotor on, I can hardly wiggle.
With tire off, hub off, the rotor doesnt wiggle much, but there is play in the axle shaft where it would go in the hub.

I think you guys are right its the spindle bearing. Probably wheel bearing too...Ima change em all to be safe. I dont mind spoiling my ranger.

If I dont add to this, the problem was solved lol.

You might be able to go to the next tighter hole for the washer and pin instead of looser. It's a very minor change if you're at the proper torque. What size tires are you running?

31" x10.50 on 15's

I always worry about heat heat expansion and err on the looser side, but you are probably right, I could easily go to the next tighter slot. Its not a washer ad pin though, its a dowel pin and slots.

Ok I got some bearings and seals, but looks like I need to order more, I just got inner and outer wheel bearings. Also need the spindle or knuckle or whatever its called bearing, and maybe the one inside the hub too?

Also what are those retaining spring things that wrap around the plastic locking parts for the hub together on the axle? I want to get new ones but can't find em. Yes my oem locking hubs still work lol. 93k original miles of maintained and well rounded driving, she's a happy truck.

Spindle bearing is the only other bearing there. New seal for spindle bearing and new seal for inner wheel bearing. Not sure what retaining ring you want for the hub. They're usually reusable. Are these auto hubs or manual?

They're the auto hubs. Bone stock. It's a weird coily spring that stretches around the plastic locking thingy and squeezes the retainers in, on the part that's still on the axle/brake assembly when hub is removed.
Mine are kinda beat up.

As for the bearings I'm looking for the one on the back side where the axle/steering knuckle goes into the spindle. It seems like with hub and wheel off that's where there is the most play.

Have you looked at the page I linked to a few days ago? It has a full exploded view with parts list. There are only 3 bearings in the whole mess. Two wheel bearings and the spindle bearing.

Yea but just kinda perused it...need to look at it more and find the names and maybe part numbers of things
