So that video was telling. I think what we are looking at here is a "sticker bomb" not a real race car (like SCCA or IMSA - street legal vehicles in amateur clubs), but instead someone who just slapped 50 stickers on their vehicle thinking it made their car look cool. Probably has never raced once - which also comes out in how they drive on the road always rapping up the RPMs for no purpose.
I did spot IMSA stickers on the rocker panels just forward of the rear wheels. But IMSA stickers can be bought by anyone with an amazon account and a credit card.
As far as I can tell the number 02 was never used by a "really" famous racer in any series - it was used, it was used hundreds of times but dozens of racers just not a "Dale" level famous guy.
The thing that made me think this is a sticker bomb and not a real racer is too many elements from too many different series / clubs. It's closest to SCCA.
Nascar has the numbers forward of center on the door, right up against the jamb, and NO hood number (hood usually has the biggest sponsor logo).
None of the big series (Nascar, F1, etc) uses rear numbers - but SCCA and IMSA do.
And so on and so on.
Personally I think the guy made it look ugly as hell, I'd take a big fat wide white stripe down the middle of the hood/roof/trunk in classic Nascar style and a couple of coherent stickers from the same series over what this guy has done.
