whats makes a Ranger XLT?

well, that explains why i dont have chrome anything.

Heh heh, My ranger is an XLT.
The only things that I can see as an upfit are the 60/40 cloth seats, Tach, carpet, sliding rear window, and some chrome on the exterior.

She has manual windows, locks, no AC, and even had AM/FM. No cassete. (that left realllll fast).

My XLT Ranger has manual everything, chrime grill and bumpers, 60/40 seats, no tach, A/C and cruise are the only options... Ford is strange sometimes...

wow... old thread..

XLT Xtra Lotta Trouble

What makes a Ranger an XLT? the little emblem that says XLT :p

what every one said above seems pretty well right. my 97 has the chrome bumpers and Grille and split cloth bench and tape player. It has the 15" deer hoof rims too. also has power locks power windows etc.

AJ

My '98 XLT has:
-Chrome bumpers and grill
-Power mirrors, windows & locks
-Sliding rear window
-Full cluster with tach
-Cruise control
-Stereo with both CD and cassette
-Carpet interior with cloth buckets & a console
-4.0L/5speed/4x4 2-Door SuperCab
-Towing & OffRoad package (Tow hooks, skid plates & hitch)
-Air conditioning
-Auxilary power port
-Fog lights

Think my truck is about as loaded as it could be:D

Both my xlt have manual windows, locks, seats.
the 04 does have cruise. the 97 does not.
both have cd players...... but they came with the suckiest stock speakers ever.

my 88 was so bare bones it was ridiculous but it did have a cassette player and ac it was an xlt, and I can testify the only the extra large about the transmission was the path of carnage it left behind.

I think if you want an xlt, just find one that you like and put xlt badges on it.

my 87 has a black grill, a black bumper, sliding window, 60/40 cloth seats, manual windows, manual locks, power steering, 2.3L, TK5 tranny and it's an XLT
Hmm....

XLT = Xtreme Long Travel

My XLT has power windows and locks, keyless entry, 60/40 cloth(nice seats), 4 door, cruise, mp3 jack, cd, bed liner all the goodies but a sliding rear window

Typically it goes

XL = Xtra Life, manual everything so there is nothing really to break

XLT = Xtra Luxurious Truck, power stuff plus most of the most popular options and goodies

But custom ordered trucks and factory mix-ups have ruined that naming scheme

Wow, seems like a lot of different configs out there.

Anyone know what package the original owner ordered for mine:

My 03 2wd XLT (4.0L Supercab):
Chrome bumpers/grill
Carpet interior
4 doors
Jump seats in the back
Bucket seats (cloth) up front, with real center console (not that flip down thing)
15x7" chrome 7 spoke wheels
Power everything (windows, mirrors, locks, remote entry)
6-CD changer in dash
Cruise
A/C
Has the towing package
Rear sliding window
3rd brake light with cargo lights
Door panels with pockets
Sun visors with mirrors on them
Rear windows tinted from the factory
Full cluster (silver in color) with tach and everything

In 08 the XLT added: Chrome grill (vs: black painted), body color front and rear bumpers (vs: black vinyl), carpet (vs rubber pad) and and carpeted floor mats, AM/FM stereo w/CD/clock and MP3/SAT capability (vs: AM/FM w/clock), cloth seats (vs. vinyl) rear jump seats (on 4 dr.) and OWL (white letter) all season tires.

Everybody got a tach at least that year.

My 93's XLT package put a 60/40 cloth bench seat, A/C, I think some cloth on the door panels, chrome rear bumper and steel wheels (in argent color), one notch above stock wheels. The motivating factor was the package price was lower than just getting A/C in an XL.
There was a "fleet" ranger offered in 93. I don't think it carried any letters after the name. I'll have to dig out all the original brochures and window sticker when I think I know where they are.

I contacted Ford's customer service and after over a week I got an answer. XLT is not an abbreviation for anything. It idenitifies a certain trim combination and nothing else.

My 94 XLT has chrome bumpers but not the grill too. No A/C (cept for 360 A/C), has a tach, has P/S, cloth seats, split rear window, 60/40 seats w/ center console, no power locks or windows.
