what's a good price?

well, it's in the bed of my truck :)

exhaust manifold is cracked in half between # 2 and 3, I'll assume that's where it's common... flywheel has an '82 part number and doesn't look worn behind the clutch, so I'm believing the 80K estimate from the guy, once I can get it out of the truck (hard to do by myself without my real engine handling tools that are in my mom's garage) I'll get it cleaned up and inspect things... I'll probably have more questions once I get deeper into it.

If I remember correctly 86 had the E6 manifold, or does that one still have the E3? I know the E3's were prone to cracking. Are you going to run another stock exhaust manifold or get a header?

don't know yet, I remember hearing some negative things about the headers at one point, but was that just rusting too quick from the guys in the rust belt? other than being broken and basically scrap the exhaust looks near new, that was another thing making me believe the 80k, the nuts on the studs look like they'll come off without too much of a fight. I just found out a few hours ago and haven't had a chance to price out either, didn't look at the part number either on it, I got as far as taking the flywheel off to mount the business end of the engine stand and realized I didn't have any 10mm by 55mm bolts on me, so I'm screwed until monday (we have them at work, I'm not going to worry about it before then).

the thought occured to me, is my stock catalyst going to be sufficient for this thing?

looking on ebay, I'm going for the E6 manifold, looking at that I have the E3, I don't have the rib between the cylinders that the E6 does... right now there are around 5 of the things, looks like they go for around $50, the only one that's ended in the length of time they let you search completed listings sold for around $65, there's one that ends in a couple days that's $60 buy it now with free shipping, I'll judge the ones before that one ends first, maybe that's the best deal.

I just mentioned it to him yesterday, haven't heard back yet...

it's definetely a E3 manifold as says the part number...

it is now on the rollover stand in the garage, will start the tear down as soon as I get my camera off of my desk at work...

Look at the header from www.rangersrevenge.com
It is a full stainless steel tubular header with 1-5/8" tubes, and external wastegate support. At only $210 to your door, it's hard to pass up.

I have one of these and it has been nothing short of perfect.

Isn't that a autochrome from ebay? I don't think you can keep your AC in a Gen 1 or 2 with a center mount header without notching your heater/ac box. Price is pretty good though.

Nope. Jess (the owner of that site and a 98 turbo ranger) does some extra welding on these that eliminates the weak spots. These are the real deal. I couldn't be happier with mine.

I don't know about AC. Mine didn't have it before the swap and it doesn't have it now. Ford switched accessory placement around so much on the 2.3's from 89-95 that no one truck is guaranteed to be the same as another anyways. I've personally seen the alternator in at least 3 different places and the coils in 4 different places.

I have a manifold tracked down along with a couple of the other biger parts I need, gotta order gaskets and stuff now, and get my spare engine stripped of it's cam and a few other things.

I paid $450 for a complete 86 turbo coupe with a junk title. I think i bought my E6 for $50 off of eBay. I cant wait to get mine running. :yahoo: I'm going to start wiring on Tuesday.
