i have a ranger that says it was made in 12/94 but i went to the auto parts store today and i was trying to get a part and we kept getting the wrong part when i said it was a 94 so the guy that was helping me said maybe try a 95 and it was the right pat. so would this be a 94 or 95?

so when i buy parts and aftermarket items do i buy 94 or 95?

I would say 95 cuz its just like new cars and trucks they come out with 2011 and its still 2010 so I'd get 1995 parts. Does it not have a title?

what part u were looking for? i doubt that 94-95 had a change that it wouldnt interchange parts

Its a 95 Ranger. If it is like mine, where its build on 12/95. That would make it a 96 model. Just like how new cars come out that are on the next year but come out this year.

yea the title says 94. well i want to put a supercharger on it and a cold air intake and i cant seem to find them for a 94

Well is the dashboard square or more rounded and looks like the newer rangers.

89 - 94 Rangers:
what year is my ranger?

95 - 11 Rangers:
what year is my ranger?

also look underneath the dashboard and look for an OBD2 connector as Ford swapped the ranger over to OBD2 from the EEC-IV in 1995 thus all your parts and stuff would need to be emissions compliant with OBD2.

what year is my ranger?

the dash looks like the 94 ranger and the diagnostic connector is under the hood which im having trouble with it cause i cant get me scan tool to read it i think there may be something wrong with it

sure fire way to tell exactly what year it conforms to is to look at the emissions label under the hood, this is also the best way to find the engine size

here is an example.. as you can see it says "this vehicle conforms to regulations of the 1999 model year.
what year is my ranger?

10th digit in the VIN since 1980 tells the year.

A=1980
B=1981
C=1982
D=1983
E=1984 and so on. There is no "I", "O", "Q", "U" or "Z"

If your 10th digit is an "S" you have a 95. If it's "R" you have a 94. 2001 models started using numbers until the 2011 models when the letter "A" returned.

Here's a link that breaks down your entire VIN: http://www.kerrywilson.com/vin.htm

thanks for the info i think ive determined its a 94 with 95 parts

with a build date of 12/94 it should be a 95.

generally anything after 9/** is the next model year. you just have to look the VIN or emissions label to verify

PM me the last 8 of the VIN and when I get back to work I'll put in MicroCat(the Ford parts look up). I'll get you your "model year" actual production date and even a build sheet if you are so inclined. I can do it easily but it would have to wait until Tuesday
