What year did ford start putting airbags in the Ranger?

My '85 has a key lock button, same rule apply?

Just muddys the waters on its history a little more... I pulled a A4LD out of it but it wouldn't surprise me a bit if it wasn't the original collum or trans.

EDIT: A straycat beat me to it.

We all know how amazingly accurate Wikipedia is, this line is included in the Ranger article there.

Based on that I'd say 95 was the first year. 4

Haaa haaaa. I saw cat nip and I pounced on it....lol. When I bought my new 95 4x4 in Ranger in Ocala, the salesman told me that was the new improvement Ford had added for that year. So I remember that. I did not have to Google it as I always say to people....'If you can't find an answer to a question...Google it'.....lol

Floor shift or column shift???

Floor shift, all first gens were floor shift reguardless of transmixer.

I kinda thought all first gens had the button but I never really looked into it very deep.

My buddy's 87 B2 was floor shift auto and has the silly button under the column.lol

That would be why. 2nd gens had the auto shifter on the column, the key could only be removed in park. They didnt want you're dipsh!t buddy next to you pulling the key and locking the column while you're driving.

Would that make much difference if the shifter was on the column?

I would think having it set up like a (2nd gen+??) automatic where the ignition has to be turned off to remove the key would cure the idiot buddy syndrome too. They may not have figured it out yet for the first gens but it seems stupid to straddle the fence up into at least the third gens.
