What were you driving back then?

No pictures, but in High School (mid to late 80's) I had a 73 3/4 ton Highboy With a 390 in it. That truck was a tank. Could haul almost anything and ask for seconds. Had the 1 ton spring pack on the rear. I also had a 69 GT Torino (also wit a 390). The paint sucked, but man that car would run. Heres a model of that car....

Yes, thats the same paint as my car had.
I also had a 66 short wide bed F-100. It needed some work though. It ran pretty good and was fairly straight

first driver was a 69 F100 short bed 2WD, burnt orange color, three on the tree complete with heater and radio and west coat mirrors...traded it off on an 81 F150 4WD short bed with 300 I6 and AC in 83...what a dumbass I was, but the AC was nice. Made a lot of money with that F150 pulling teenagers out of the ditch in winter when they stuck Daddy's blazer or suburban in the ditch but didn't want to call home...$20 a pop and all the chuckling/ridicule you could stand would get you back on the blacktop again.

My first car was a 67 f250 4x4 with a 352 big block and a granny 4 speed and the very best 4 wheel non power drum brakes! Lol couldn't even afford to drive it to work, but it would go anywhere I wanted to go. My first new vehicle was a 1986 ranger gt that I bought for myself for a 21st bday present.

Just a few......

I have pics of most of the vehicles I've owned, so would take alotta space & time to scan & post, so here's just a few:
67 Chevelle wrecked 6*30*75

70 Chevelle wrecked 6*30*76

Both wrecks not my fault, right place=wrong time:shok:

Then bought this:

Enlisted in USAF in Aug 78, and built this 66 GMC HD 1/2 ton back in 1979

I miss that BEAST as I called it, had 4.56 gears, granny 4 spd, and 305 V6 that would pull stumps. I put a 300hp/350 in it 6 months later, and it was a BLAST!

1st car was a 79 amc concord, then had a 85 jeep cj7, then a 72 olds cutlass, a 77 nova, a 88 ranger, 92 3/4 ton chevy 2wd and for the last 11 years ive had my currant 93 ranger.

1981 Cougar was where I started. It was Mom's car that I drove until I could buy my 1983 Dodge Turismo.

When I was 11 I had an older family friend who sold me a 1958 Chevy truck for $100. It was rust free and ran good! Grandpa sold it for parts and broke my heart. I still have the title!

in high school 1980 got my license and my kick-ass mom gave me her 1973 plymouth valiant when she bought another vehicle. 225 cubic inches of slant six awesomeness!!!!!

better yet, the four doors added to the innocence exuded by this family-mobile driven by this nerd(me).

took me places far beyond the end of the pavement, both mountains and shoreline. only got stuck one time- my friends and i were doing the "around the island cruise" (again) and picked up a military dude hitchhiking to a beach on the north shore that has military cabin rentals. it was early evening and the sun was gone so when we dropped him off i misjudged the look of the sand i drove into turning around and that sinking feeling told me i wasn't going anywhere. as luck would have it, the dude we gave a ride to was joining his already alcohol lubricated buddies. they surrounded the car and with military precision lifted the car to freedom before i even had a chance to open my door to get out and assess the situation.

with the 8-track/fm stereo and the pioneer 6x9s behind it was a badass undercover party car.

Not the seventies, but this was my very first car; a 1963 Ford Fairlane 500 that I bought for $50, which included the tow home! I was 14, and I learned quite a bit about auto mechanics working on it. Sold it to buy a motorcycle before I even got my license.

In 68 I bought a new Fairlane 500 Fastback. I don't have any pictures of it but here is my 69 Cobra that I currently have.
