Uhmm, yeah. Fitting an a4ld to a v8? That would be prettymuch the equivalent of taking your 2.9 motor that's coming out of your Ranger and bolting it up to a 10 speed mountain bike.
How much power would I be looking at for a 302 with ported heads, intake, mild cam, and bigger injectors? I know the stock heads are terrible on air flow...
Since you were thinking about 351M, have you thought about just running a carb on a 302? Mileage would be way better vs 351M either way. The stock computers are programmed to run a certain flow rate injector. Really, if it's not too extreme, you could probably get away with orange top 19lbs granted the computer's not from a low performance 5.0L. IMO
