Hello. I want to make custom bumpers. I have two friends who are welders by trade, so I can get the work done for the cost of beer pretty much, but need to get materials to make it.

I found a really nice website for a local company, and was looking for opinions on what material(s) are good options, and the advantages/disadvantages of different ones.

Thanks in advance for any input.
Matt.

edit - sometime down the road, I want to chop the top and put a cage in as well... Also wanting to know what is good for that.

Diamond plate. Stuff is strong, durable, takes forever to rust out. Only drawback is that it's expensive. Just get a big old 12x12 honking piece of diamond plate, make the cuts you want, weld it up, and bolt it on.

Your truck is only about 65 inches across, a 12 x 12 foot sheet should be enough to make a couple bumpers if you cut efficiently.

If I were you, I'd make it out of metal!
