i have a 87 s10 that i can molest and stick a 302 into .. or i can sell the s10 and motor and get a 97 ranger 2wd ext cab 3.0 but needs head gaskets... which route would you go?

Keep the 302, throw it in the 97' ranger....otherwise don't bother with either.

You're gonna put a 302 Chevy engine or a 302 Ford engine in the S10? I wouldn't put a 302 Ford engine in an S10 personally, but if you have a small block Chevy 302 that would be pretty cool.

*Disclaimer*: I'm not knocking Ford engines, they just don't belong in a Chevy and vice-versa (in my opinion).

I'd take the Ranger and put head gaskets on it.

If not, trade the 302 on a small-block Chebby and put that in the S-10. Putting a Ford 302 in it would be a crapload of fabbing stuff from scratch which isn't really necessary when the kits and know-how are already there to install a small-block (or putting a 302 in a Ranger, same thing).

That's what I did!!! My 85 GMC Sierra S15 POS has a 289 Mustang motor. The damn thing romps. Its mainly just a backtrail rallytruck. Its sick
