What sort of owner are you after all?

Post a picture of that older Ranger please. There seems to be fewer photos these days.

Single Cab Short Wheel Base. This pic, the truck still has the rear Factory lift blocks
LTC rims on Ranger.jpg

'95 Lincoln Town Car rims. I noticed a small rub mark on the DS inner fender liner, but I have never felt or noticed it rubbing.

I'll driver her til she drops, then go buy another one :)

Not sure where I fall in. Have pretty much always driven older vehicles and maintain them as needed. They don't get babied because I've always seen them as a functional tool to be used rather than a shiny thing to display.

Maybe my perspective would be different if my first Ranger didn't hemorhage a transmission a week to the day after I bought it back in '97.

In other news, my daily driver ('94 Camry that I picked up for $500 a few years ago) finally had enough of life last night. Engine locked up tight running down the interstate. Not worth fixing, but I definitely got my money's worth out of it long ago.

I still drive mine 200 to 250 miles a week and will fill it up with whatever needs hauling. I have had it for over 20 years and will "restore" it someday when I have time. I did recently put the original wheels back on it but it needs some help here and there. This is a few years ago..

Depends. My beater '88 and my wife's '87 get flogged like dirty whores. They are both pretty beat up and rusty that I don't put too much thought into keeping them nice... they were not nice before I owned them... just enough maintenance to keep them running good, safe and not leaking all over is plenty. F250 is the same... just a big white container for hauling things.

The stepside truck, F150 and my '92 Explorer are a different story, I am pretty meticulous about taking care of those. I barely let the kids ride in them and the dogs definitely do not. That creates some tension with my wife because she wants to take the dogs camping and stuff so we have to take 2 vehicles... my vehicles are not dog kennels though, sorry. I spent a lot of time making them nice and am not about to let those beasts do what they are good at, destroying stuff.

The rest of the fleet is somewhere in between.

It all depends on what you do with that "tool." II didn't care at all when I was handling 2x4s. Of recent put a wooden bed in mine, and for a reason, I run a charity, pick up and deliver a lot of blankets, clothes, and boxes of things. I want my donors to know that their gifts will be taken care of and handled with the greatest respect. So plain and fancy both have a purpose.

For sure. And don't get me wrong - I love seeing a well taken care of showpiece from the past. It's just not something that's terribly important to me with my own vehicles.

Diversity the fun of this site.

Mine is the same year as yours. I dont have an "older" ranger, per say.

And i like the single cab too. My fullsize is a crew cab and the bed is smaller than the ranger.

I guess I don't know where I fit in either. Probably all groups. I like to modify it, use it for work and I do my best to keep it from looking like it spent its life at the bottom of a river. It's been lowered, lifted, 2wd, 4wd, had a 4 cylinder in it and now a V6. Its been pampered and abused, used for work and play and it even won STOTM at one point. It has been the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned and has truly never let me down. Best $900 I ever spent.

My build is slow and I have yet to actually wheel the thing to its limit but I have kids and other priorities that are more important right now. I always have ideas of things I want to do, just need time (and some money).

Yes, That is the correct date in the first photo.

I'm all over the board. One 85 BII is a frame off resurrection. Not back to all stock but cleaned, painted and prettied up. All the work has been underneath thus far as mechanically sound is first IMHO. Plans for body and paint are forthcoming. Still running the 2.8 with a duraspark and Fm 145 5 speed. Skyjacker 6" lift.

Then my other 85 BII is slated for more off road adventures. I picked up an explorer Dana 35 and a 8.8 and a set of 5.13 gears for it. Gonna trim fenders, no lift and run 33 x 12.50s. Sporting a custom built bumper with a warn 9000lb winch. Running the 2.8 with a duraspark and an A4LD but i have a M5OD ready to swap in.

My latest is a 95 Ranger reg cab short bed 4.0 5 speed. My daily driver beater with a heater. Beat to hell but runs like a champ. Routine maintanance only.

Just retired my old daily. She will be disassembled for parts.

The Super Duty just holds the dirt in the driveway. She got a leveling kit and 35s. She's sexy just like she is.
