what rear end gears 302 and c4 and tire size

Ford 4100s are real nice carburetors and are 4V. A Holley is an option. I do believe whole heartily that you will get better MPGs with a 4100 over a Holley. I run a 2v. It is crisp. Throttle response is almost EFI like, with everything I have done for this package. I couldn't be happier. But I wasn't trying to extract every bit of power. I wanted reliability, easy driving and very efficient, meaning MPGs even with the V8. I filled the Bronco up again last evening . . . 16.91 MPG and that had some extended idling time in it. I couldn't be happier . . well maybe. This is still with the stock 3.45s. If I can get the ratio higher, I'm sure I can raise the MPG a bit more. I haven't had it on the highway for any extended time. Maybe it could get 20 mpg now??
The 82GT also had a slightly larger 2V on it. If you could find one of those cars on ebay, you would have a bit more performance, but still the crisp running 2V. I give a lot of my efficiency to the aluminum 2V manifold and the E7/roller rocker combo.

I love my 1403 Edelbrock, very snappy throttle response, starts great and is easy to tune.

I will look up both types of carbs and see which is the best option. I'm not going four high horses right now, but did leave room for the engine to grow.

Looked at both and the 1403 seems to be the ticket. I dont need 600 cfm for my engine but something that will tune better and stay that way. Now i have to wait for my other w2 to come in so that i can get my taxes done and hopefully have the money to get one.

A 2100 that I jetted and rebuilt. But also, to be fair, I built this engine for such a purpose. I started with a '68 block that I put new rings and bearings etc. I used the stock cam. I then used E7 heads that I did a clean up port on. I added 1.72 roller rockers and a rare ('82 only ) high rise 2V aluminum manifold from a GT Mustang. I'm running a Durasprak distrbutor and a GM HEI module with a Ford TFI coil. I custom made a 2 1/2" single exhaust. It runs nice :icon_thumby:

sounds like a nice setup. do you remember what jet size you used might help me get an idea where to start. when i rebuilt the carb i remember thinking the jets were huge but i cant for the life of me remember what size they are. i even looked at the numbers at least twice and didnt think to write em down. i am not trying to build a dragster just a reliable pickup with some power when i step on the skinny pedal

I think I have 58s . . been a while. I know I have between 55-58. Filled up the tank last evening and got another 17 mpg :)

i will have to pull the carb off again whenever i get the truck back from the shop. hopefully tomorow. it is ready to go but it is stuck in behind a broke down semi. so i wait again. i talked to the mechanic there and he told me that i can adjust the vacuum modulator on the trans to change the shift points does that sound right

If you have an adjustable modulator you can adjust the shift points slightly, yes. If it isn't adjustable, you would have to change it to an adjustable one.

I'm running a 302 from an 85 Mustang and an off the shelf 600 Holley 4 bbl. Along with the AOD from a 92 Mustang and the .308 L/S gears.. 17.5 mpg... and my cruising speed on the interstate is 75mph @ 2,000 rpm

My Holley needs more work then i want to put into it and i have time for.

I was getting bit over 18mpg with a stock 95 351 windsor on 15lbs of boost and 750 holley dp, c4 trans and 3.31 gears and 275 60 tires. Your losing mpg in the tune up of your engine. make sure your timing is advancing correctly and it's set right.

I do need to go over stuff again but tuning the Holley, float level, idle mixture, etc... want to change on me. The driverside front venturi doesn't exactly allow the air passing it to create a spray but it is more of a drip in the intake. Plus it has had enough backfires out the carb that the power valve has to be shot. Also the vacuum secondaries when they open, they like to hang open until i turn the engine off to shut them. And i can only run the fuel pressure at 4.5 psi, anymore then that it wants to flood out the top of carb. Spent hours trying to get the carb at the proper operating/recommended psi with no luck. Just want a simple, easy tune carb that doesn't fall out of adjustment a easily as my holley does. Plus want a 500cfm carb, this 600cfm is to much for my DD that only has 200HP.
