What Oil do you run?

"Did you know "gullible" isn't in the dictionary?"
Is too! The Lexicon Webster Dictionary. Easily gulled or cheated; credulous. adv. But you were right on the rest of that stuff. :icon_thumby:

One wouldn't make the clearences smaller just to disallow dino oils...
Hmmm.. just what in the hell could be the difference that requires synthetic?

Well, I can only speculate on reasoning, but one reason you might want tighter clearances (and the less viscous oils to go with it) is to reduce hydrodynamic losses in the engine. It's not too unusual to see 0W-20 specified. Maybe it exists, but I've never seen a conventional 0W-20.

hmmm...quite a debate...

in my Malibu, i run Rotella 15w40. been using it since i rebuilt the motor nearly 3 years ago and it still looks new inside (no carmelization). as for my 2.9...ahhh...right now the pan is bone dry...cause the motor is undergoing a total rebuild. more than likely ill run Rotella for cam break in and thereafter, either Castrol GTX or Quaker State.

I put Royal Purple in my 95 4.0 and I did notice it ran better. It is hard to really explain, but a smoother idle and smoother take off (i.e. rev-up), hope I described that correctly. Although a bit more expensive, it was worth it.

You put Delo in your truck? What was the reasoning? because its around 10 bucks a gallon.

I put Delo in my truck because I get it for cheap. About $1.25/quart. Cheaper than other brands. That's what friends that work in diesel shops are good for!

SEE! Everyone loves what they are using.. STILL nobody says.."hey! Don't EVER use XXX oil!"
For the most part it is all the same stuff! And it all works virtually the same. There ain't no secrets in motor oil. So I use whatever is on sale..

WOW, you really did sucked into Scamsoil's lies!!!

First off, they only have one oil that is API certified (XL). Scamsoil is only a blender and packager, they buy their base oil stock from REAL oil companies, so they don't manufacture ANYTHING!!

Second, you have to pay an inflated price for their products, because Scamsoil is a MLM company!

Third, they try to say you can run their oil 25K miles to justify the highly inflated price of their products! Did you know that UOA will not detect a sludging condition with oil (from Blackstone Labs)? Matter of fact, even Scamsoil recommends using their ONLY API certified oil, and changing it at the vehicle manufacturer's recommended OCI in vehicles prone to oil sludging:

Audi, and VW have special requirements for oil in their engines, Mobil-1 meets these requirements, Scamsoil DOES NOT!!!

From the way you talk I would say your not even as old as Amsoil. I have used it for 30 years so I know what it will do over conventional lubricants. It's true they do make some blends which have shorter drain intervals. But hey thanks for the service bulletins because I have one of those 2.7L V6 Dodges and it does sludge up because it gets run about 2 miles at a time.
Run what you like, I will.

Yes, I've been around for a long time, have a lot of experience, and know to stay away from ALL MLM companies!!

Sounds like you need to switch from Scamsoil to Mobil 1, or one of the many oils approved by Audi & VW in your Dodge!!:icon_thumby:
