Hi everyone, I am new to the ranger station and I hope that I am in the right place to post my question. I need to know what kind of tool I could use to remove the presure hose on my 96 ranger? I sort of round off the nut on the hose when I was trying to loosen it from the P/S pump, I did use a flare wrench (6 point 16mm) but it just kept on slipping off whenever I turn it.
need to replace it because it is leaking when turn lock to lock and acturally could be heard, the O ring is busted. any advice on tool tips would be really helpful. Thanks.

I always use the "gator grip" sockets for anything. Try it with that. I got mine here in Germany for about 10-12 euros (so about 15 dollars or so) Been able to remove square headed bolts with it too...

It's on a hose right? You can't use a gator grip socket on a hose. I say get some vise grips and just get it off. Then get a new nut.

DOH! Misread it! Sorry...that is what happens when I do not have enough coffee in my system.

You can get to mine a lot better by taking the tire off and going through the fender well.Use a small pipe wrench and don't tell anybody.

Vise grips or pipe wrench if you can squeeze it in there.

You are replacing the hose?

Cut the tube off and use a regular 6 pt socket and ratchet to grab it.

The best way that works for me .. I take mapp gas torch and penetrator oil and heat it up till its red hot and soak it in penetrator oil and let it cool and do this again and again a couple of time and then when you get it red hot, don't put penetrator oil on it and just take a vise grip and tighten it down and then take off the nut ... I have done this like 20 times and it works for me ever time!!!! Just let me know how you make out!!!

Hey, everyone thanks for the tips on how to remove a round off nut. I will try each tips on the post, and do a follow up. Thanks again...
