I had an 86 mustang coupe that was factory 4cyl. 7.5 rear car. Did a 5.0 t-5 swap, drove it for over year to work, raced it on the track & street. Beat the shit out it daily & it held up. Ended up breaking the spider gears & swapping in an 8.8. So they aren't as frail as you make them out to be. That included 5000 rpm clutch dumps on 26 x 8.5 slicks.
