what is this hole for?

this is the groove. it extends all the way around the cab behind the seats. There's room enough to fit your fingers in it; it's a closed off space, so ti doesn't extend up to the window or anything.

A friend told me it might be for a cloth cover, to cover up the back and make it into something like a trunk. (best I can explain it) If that is what it is, where can I get one? If not, what is it?

The recessed rectangular hole holds the lever that opens the storage compartment. As far as the groove is, I don't know. I just bought an '04 Supercab RAnger and I want to install jump seats. How would I go about doing this?

On second thought, I think you are referring to the "a" shape groove in the door posts. I don't have a clue as to what that is.

Actually ford calls it a "privacy screen"

It's the cover for hiding anything you leave in your jumpseat area.

If people can't see it they might not try to steal it.

Wait a second here. You guys have a '04 and '05 with no jump seats. I have an '05 base super cab and it has jump seats. I maybe wrong, more than likely I am, but I thought all super cab Rangers came with jump seats standard. Please correct me if I am wrong here.

Just did a Google on the specs for a 2005 basic and it sure sounds like they were standard. But I don't have them on XLT, the jack in on the passenger side instead of the seat. Depends of build date?

My jack is under my passenger side jump seat. Stranger things have happened.

yep no jump seats in my '04 XLT either.... huh.

I think the jump seats were only standard on the 4 door models. The jack is in the center between the two jump seats on the 4 door model, and under one of the jump seats on the 2 door models.

I have an 04 2 door ext cab......... with jump seats.
