I can see where it appears to also hold the A/C compressor, but what is all that other support for. It looks like you could remove it and use some shorter bolts for the A/C compressor. Clearly there is nothing attached to it. I did look at a couple of other engine bays that seem to have something there (added that screenshot as well) but I have no idea as what it is. Is my truck missing something?

That is a resonance chamber to quiet down intake air flow. I get the impression it is not required. Others may know if it is important for some reason.

Your a/c compressor is on the other side of the engine isn't it?

Yeah, that the power steering pump. And definitely plumbed into the intake. The plugs in yours look factory though. So I'm guessing not required. Just cheaper not to deign a smaller bracket for the trucks that didn't have it.,

Yeah, I guess that is the power steering pump. Didn't look at it that closely. But the same would apply if I was to use shorter bolts for it and then the unused bracket could go away I would thing.

It certainly wouldn't be that easy. I'm sure belt alignment goes wonky without some accurate spacers.

If you really wanna get rid of the part of bracket hanging out there,🪚.
