What is this and where does it go?

My engine is about 90% reassembled, just a few things left to do. I started getting lazy when I was taking it apart and this was one of the things I didn't label. What is this sensor and where does it go? Also where does the little plug on top go?

Didn't think you couldn't figure it out. Just felt like stating the obvious.

So thats what that is hmmmm its been hanging down since i got my ranger there is absolutely no spot for it to fit that i could find

SAY789 - You have that sensor hanging down!? I have my doubts about that... unless you also have a mysterious yet dramatically severe oil leak.
