what is a good dog repellant

ya horses are much more expensive than a dog, can't have that. but do the neighbors know what happened to their precious fifie, lol

Tell ya what, I'll sent over some of the girfriends cooking, place some by the trees and that will fix his ass. Otherwise get an electric collar it's much easier than an electric fence. If he's a mean ol dog then strap it to his... but you better be ready to run like hell when you hit the button especially if the dog knows it's you holding the control

There are these "invisible" fences available, but not sure how well they work. The dog wears a collar transmitter, and when he gets between two points and breaks the beam he gets a nasty noise off of the collar that should make him retreat. Pretty soon he learns where and where not to go in the yard to aviod the noise. Put 'em up by the trees and thats the end of the problem.

Either that or hook 120 volts up and.... Oh, wait, you wanted to KEEP the dog, right?

Bricks soaked in Clorox will discourage'em.

i think i'll go with the plain fence. and i honestly don't think a paint ball gun would do the trick unless i see him by the trees everytime, he's the type of dog that doesn't learn to quick although he keeps his distance from skunks now (sprayed 2-3 times) and straping a collar to his....... won't work either because they're gone.

As a farmer and a person who has had their block knocked off several times by the cattle's electric fence (i'd take that route)
If you want to be fancy you can get an adjustable one (a lot of people use them for pigs because if it's too "hot" they will freeze up and be electrocuted)
Don't let anyone with a pacemaker get into it, and your good to go.

I strongly suggest against getting a "weedburner" they are more livid than your standard electric fence charger.... they will kill any grass that grows into them.

Also if you want to avoid running cords through your yard, southern states (or Farm Tractor supply) or anywhere, have a cheap version of a portable "dog breaker" "cattle kicker" you just clamp little jumper cables off of the electric fence charger to a car battery, it will last about a week.

Been "diggin up bones" there Frank???? :Dshady

I don't get it, I guess your saying something about me being a farmer and the livestock deal.... haha "well now that, the wry chuckle has subsided"

250 head of Red Angus on my bosses farm plus corn, beans, and cotton.
My Dad raised/raises Black Angus (has one of the top 16 black angus bulls in the nation's "son" at his farm)

I just know a little about a little when it comes to electric fences (plus we just got a new adjustable one for the feeder floor and it's a weed burner, thing will kill small children and elderly on a high level, it also flashes the voltage you are pushing on a cluster panel !!!!!)

I think he was refering to bringing back a thread that was dead for a month...

Not one month... This thread is from June of TWO THOUSAND AND EIGHT!! Haha!

I remember the thread, and I could have sworn it wasn't over a year ago. But in retrospect it it does seem longer than a month too. :shok:
