What I need to make my truck "mud ready?"

Thanks for all the feedback. Yes, I wanted to upgrade to like a 30ish inch tire and I know I'd need to do a lift of some sort to make room for em'. Also I would pretty much use it for everything from trails to bogs....I know that's a tall order for a 2WD, would it just be cheaper and better to get a 4WD and go from there?

A 4x4 would be an instant 2" of lift and usually come with something about 30's from the factory... on top of doubling the drivewheel count.

The tires and wheels (assuming you have 14" rims you will probably have to buy 15" rims) will run you quite a bit is my guess. If you have 24" tires now you will probably have to re gear it which will also run quite a bit. You could do a 2" spacer lift on the front which arent too expensive. Basically, unless you have some kind of attachment to the truck, you're better off just buying a 4wd. I think I spent over $1200 going from 24" tires to 31" when it was all said and done.

THIS is the only way to never get stuck.. Or at least get yourself out rather easily :thefinger:

The only tried and true way to never get stuck is to stay on pavement but that's no fun.

So build up and have a little fun! :headbang:

Thats insane! I only spent 500 haha. If you haev 3.73's you will be fine without a re gear

I spent $460 on just the tires... which was cheap.

My 31s including AR wheels were $350. Tires were $150, wheels were $200

I win!

I had to re gear. I only had 3.08. No way in hell I was running 3.08 gears with 31s haha. Labor alone for installing gears was $400. $1200 was for everything from spacer lift to the rims and brand new tires. Tires were killer, ~$500 maybe if i remember right. I only had 14" rims too.

Alright sweet, thank you...roughly how much would that cost?
college student with two jobs budget...

A sold 2wd truck and a freshly purchased 4x4 truck is about what it would cost. :icon_twisted:

That being said, I am not a fan of lifted 2wd trucks. Nothing good can come of it imho.

Okay so here's what I'm thinking of getting: the wrangler tires at walmart (yes, I said walmart) in 29" and then adding 2" of lift to make room for the tires using blocks...good?

What gears do you have in the axle? You wont need to make room in the rear for them. You could do a 2" spacer lift in front though. Just make sure you get an alignment after.

No, you can send me your money if you want to waste it though. Get some real tires, and a suspension lift. With decent use you will one day loose one of the blocks on the trail. O yeah you should also get 4x4 installed while you're at it.
