what do you think of these lights?

Dunno if they actually changed the 3rd brake light on the rangers but Recon makes nice stuff

http://www.gorecon.com/product.php?...Sport-Trac-01-05-LED-3rd-Brake-Light&p_cat=32

i am about 99% sure that every high mount stop light on any pickup truck ford has ever made, will bolt up to any other truck, however the wiring on some of them are different... i don't know about the suv's and such, but i would assume they would be different

i will be getting a 3rd brake light eventually, one similar to that one probably...

i like them the best or the 2nd ones down in the first post. i would get some torx screws with the new lights just in case someone else wants them more then u lol

that is a damn good idea! i think i'm probably going to do that!

on the topic of torque screws for anti theft, i actually have another idea...

i got the lights yesterday, from another member, they are exactly as described (minus UPS damage, which i am dealing with now)

so once they go on, i think i might actually tint them, using window tint, and do it right overtop of the bolt holes, which should hopefully make it look like there are no bolt holes... but we will have to see...

that might be a good idea in addition to the torq screws...

anyways, one of them doesn't work right now, so i can't install the lights just yet, so i put one in, just to make sure it works properly, and here's the result:

I would hope a set of torx bits are standard in someone's set these days... like people always say... if they want your shit bad enough, they'll get it.

true, but i would think your stuff would be slightly safer with a security torx bit, than a phillips...

couple more pics, trying to see if i can't find a matching high mount stop light, with cargo light, what do you guys think match the best?

this is the tail lights i have (the actual light pictured, i now have in my posession)

here's possibility 1

possibility 2, this one doesn't have a cargo lamp, but i could wire the side sections up to flash with the signals, which could either look awesome, or terrible... not sure which...

possibility 3, this one doesn't have LED cargo lights, but is the black/clear combo i'm looking for

what do you guys think?

i like the bottom 3rd light. just ordered those tail lights how do you like them?

i love my tail lights, they are bright as hell! i can see what the people in the cars behind me are doing at a stop light at night :D especially seeing as they are eye level to most people...

there they are installed (totally didn't post them cuz i was lazy)

one thing i noticed, these LED's are VERY directional, there are 6 leds facing outwards (to the sides) that turn on with the park lights only, and the more straight on you look at the brake lights, the brighter they get... if you aqre looking at them from a 45 degree, you can tell they are on, but are no comparison to them straight on

also, to anyone who IS going with lights like this, make sure you cover the connections in di-electric grease, i got mine with one connector melted, and i assume it was because of a bad connection/water contamination, with some re-wiring i got it to work again

b-b-b-b-bump!

gotta dig this old thread out, i'm back to square 1, i got rear-ended by a quad, took out one of my tail lights, (which i have actually managed to sell already!) the guy who hit me has agreed to pay for the damaged light, it's just a matter of actually getting ahold of him now, we're playing answering machine tag lol...

ok, so he's paying for the new lights, and between selling the ones i've got on the truck, and the stock ones to different people, i'll have more than enough to buy a highmount at the same time... the thing is, i need to find a set of all 3 that match, and look good... i like the style i had, the separated top and bottom sections, with the reverse light in the middle... the only restriction, the new lights must NOT have a built in reverse light, i've got reverse lights coming off ebay, they are part of my warning lights... (another thread, another time)

do any of you have any suggestions? ebay is showing a shortage of ranger tail lights right now, i don't really want to go chrome backing either... oh, and the high mount must have a cargo light!

even if i can find some brands, i can see what i can get for pricing...

ok, seriously, i need brand names of 3 piece kits that don't look like ass...

ok, i'm at the point where i'm starting to not care if there's a cargo light...

of you guys who have cargo lights on your trucks, how much do you use them, and how much would you miss it if you didn't have it?

i'm at the point where i need ANYONE to freaking answer, the first person who replies with ANYTHING (other than a non nonsensical bullshit post) gets rep, and any additional people who have an answer to the cargo light/vs non cargo light question, will get rep... anyone who i can't rep, i will owe it to you, and WILL pay out!

I've not had much occasion to use my cargo light. I'd like to have a combo cargo/brake unit, though. If I can get the time, I'll probably wire the cargo light onto a separate switch to make it more functional.

so... would you miss it? i'm trying to decide if it's worth looking for one with, or just go with this combo...

or wait till i find a high mount with cargo that will match either the red ones above, or the black/clear ones i have on... what do you think Bill?

i kinda do too, but i REALLY wanted a cargo light :(

now the question is if it will fit, otherwise, back to square 1... :( it's designed for the bronco and f-150 from 89-96, but i'm fairly sure they are all the same from the 80's up to like 08 (save for the newer f-150's)
