My parts dip can is leaking and I need some new parts dip. The one gallon can at Orielly is 27 dollars. What do you soak your small parts in? I like to have the small hardware clean before I finsh them on my wire wheel.

I use a little ATF and gasoline.

I have a gallon paint can that is about 1/4 full of SAE90 that is contaminated with ATF that came out of my transmission. Yup some hillbilly filled up the trans with 90 weight. But anyhow I find it works great for soaking nuts and bolts in for a couple days before hitting them with the wire wheel.

Personally I prefer a nice hot bubble bath, candles and a cold beer.

Kroil works good, But after 5 min it'll start to burn&take all the hair off:D

Heh heh, After my mastectomy, my PT lady advised me to switch from deodorant soap to a moisturizer I use Dove. And it does keep my hands from cracking. My current job is pretty clean and tame compared to previous jobs. But the DIM stuff I do to house, grounds and cars. is still dirty and full of boo boos to fingers and hands. :D

...as much poontang as I can get. When it comes to parts cleaning, I use an old, functional crock pot with antifreeze as the soak agent...diluted most times, but sometimes not. Cleans right up.

LOL! You da man!:icon_thumby:

I looked around for the McKay part dip but they no longer make the good stuff due to the tree huggers. The crock pot sounds like a good idea as well.

You all are fools.

White vinegar.
A two day soak would clean the titanic.

No BS, I took a pair of dikes, a pair of stripper/ crimpers, a ratchet, breaker bar, and a full set of sockets, that had been in a 5gal bucket of water for 6-7 years, soaked em in white vinegar for 4 days, wiped em off and they were shiny chrome, and completely functional.
