What do these engines rev too?

I would but I like wheelin with a auto. I went wheelin a month ago and I was with a couple of other bronco's with sticks and it just seemed have an easier time roaming around the offroad park.

Okay I took my truck out for a spin yesterday to work some seafoam through her, and she was revving up to damn near 5k without shifting from first to second, wide open throttle(well, not even, need to do a cable tie mod.) Was only going around the block, so I didn't get shifted into 2nd until I was coasting.

Mines a 2.9/a4ld combo, but still...
I think you asked your question in the wrong spot, try posting and/or searching the transmission section, try and find out what might be causing it to shift early. Fluid levels are good, and the fluid is red and oily, not brown or black, or gritty?
