if it had oil in it mainly... if the pinion doesn't wobble around, if you have the cover off, look at the rear pinion bearing, see that the cage is in one piece (if you can see it, I can with a 4.10 pinion but others probably aren't as visible), all the spider teeth are accounted for
believe me, if a 7.5 would blow up it'd be mine, I drove it daily for over a month with a blown spider gear, metal floating all over, still pieces around in there... the rear pinion bearing cage is broken in one place, pinion bearings were loose for I don't know how long, few chips out of gears, 200,000 miles on them. I've been trying to kill mine, but the 2.3 won't do it...
