What did YOU do today?

Rain coming in, just as everything was close to being dried out. So while I can get there I took the blade to its storage spot (that will be a swamp by the end of the week) Pulled the brake drums on the F150, shoes look good, going to soak the bleeder threads & put the tires back on. Priced parts the other day & was surprised how much ttb F150 calipers are, probably going to end up needing them. Will just go ahead & make new hard lines, replace flex lines. Shouldn’t have to worry about anything brake related for a long while if its all new.

I thought calipers were more reasonable in cost than they used to be for these trucks. They’re like $35-40 each locally.

Replacing brake hard lines with Ni-Copp is high on my list when I get a new-to-me vehicle. Just too much rust around PA and Ohio to not want to head off a potential leak.

dunno what the going price is today, but in 2024 a set of dual piston calipers for my 97 was about 35 each on RA. NiCop is definitely the way to go for replacing lines. really easy to work with, just remember to put the nut on and put it on in the right direction before you flare it lol

AJ

The rebuilt calipers through RA aint so bad but then theres the whole hassle of shipping back the core & I just looked at new. Maybe I should consider the rebuilt ones. Yeah on the line nuts, been there, done that! Always have a perfect flare when you miss a nut or put it on the line wrong. The last time I made a line I taped the nut on further down so it wouldn’t slide off when I wasn’t looking. They like to do that. lol

Changed oil in both escapes & the equinox today. Truck oil looks pretty clean as does the filter plus theres the brakes to do before anything else. The pressure bleeder & ni copp line came today, didn’t know you could get automotive stuff on amazon until the other day. The nylon insets for the back plate fasteners were gone when I got the truck, had 5/16 bolts in the bumper for the plate. did find replacement inserts & new screws at meijers when I bought oil & filters. Sure is a lot of crap under the hood, can barely see the engine in the truck.

I gotta ask what rock you've been hiding under to not know Amazon had car parts? :), it's very hit and miss, it is mandatory to check reviews and shop around in general, a lot is junk but you get that everywhere else too so yeah...

Yesterday after my tractor pull meeting I got gas on the way home since it's cheaper in Salem than on my commute by like $0.40/gal, decided to capitalize on that and filled up 5 5 gallon cans since I was out at home... between that and the Ranger I got around 36 gallons... annoyingly $130 since our prices are almost $1 over national average...

Might just be me, but I find much more variety and better prices on eBay. Just my two cents.

Seems to depend on what you’re after. Sometimes eBay has a significantly better price and sometimes it’s Amazon. The thing to watch is that there’s a lot of fakes anymore.

Played on forscan some more.

Spring break is going to be great for kids there next three weeks. Its already warm and humid with tons of mosquitos.

they do.spring break in three different weeks here. High school kods have week1, a bunch of colleges have week2, and the last bunch of colleges have week3. I think its so the high school girls dont get to drunk with the college guys

Usually its drizzly and crappy chilly. Since its going to be nice, wr will probably be slammed with tourists and not be able to drive anywhere out of my little section of town because it will take over an hour to get back home with the lines on the highway

Junk yard haul - a 100 bux ,shoes for my 98 Ranger, thanks to the red Ranger which will be crushed on Saturday, and staggered shoes for the Z3 Garage queen.
Washer/Dryer was another 100 bux from a storage sale.

Ive not really used amazon much, im mostly a ebay shopper, never really gave it a thought before. I only started with the amazon crap because my daughters birthday “wish list “ was on amazon & I pretty much just used it that one time & went back to what I used before. Think I will tackle the thermostat in the 300 today, shouldn’t be too difficult (unlike my 4cyl escape that was a 2 hour job)
