What did YOU do today?

If I can get my daughter's Ford Focus key from off to ACC, I'm home free. If not, $$$. :(

A tiny little thing, just need to wiggle it a fraction and .....

You got a replacement impeller or just new seals?
Just seals. Impeller was fine. The whole job was driven by bad motor bearings.

Tell me more about the double Ds.…

I cleared the snow. It was light and fluffy, which was a mixed blessing since the wind was blowing pretty good at the time. I managed to figure out a way to stay up wind the majority of the time so I did not get blasted in the face by the snow being thrown by the snow blowers.

I'm also getting some more work done on the trailer before I go to a VFW Rifle Range meeting this evening. I'm hoping to have the additional angle pieces primed and installed with paint able RTV before it's time to go. It's only 50 degrees in the garage with both electric heaters, both reflective kerosene heaters, and the 500 watt work lights that are under the trailer running. Baby, it's cold outside.

Lincoln and I picked up a 28 foot extension ladder rated at 300 pounds from marketplace in (on) Big Red.

The end that’s on top that touches the wall is slightly bent for about 6 inches, otherwise perfect but dirty, and it’s missing the rope. I’ve got rope in the shed of miracles.

Home Depot’s ladder, $515 plus tax
Rick’s dirty ladder without a rope, $50 plus $20 in diesel
.
I love Craigslist and marketplace

I've done siding for nearly 40 years. I really dislike the ropes so they get removed quickly. On the really long ladders I've installed wheels from a lawn mower so I can walk the ladder up pushing the top half as I go. Use wheels that are not plastic, you do want a little grip so you dont go sideways.

I once had a 36ft fiberglass extension ladder. It was "handy?" when I had my electrical business. Took 2 people to move it safely. I doubt I could even carry it now. I loaned it to a neighbor so he could trim trees and when I moved, I left it with him. Good riddance. Don't care what a boom lift costs. I'll never voluntarily use and extension ladder that big again.

Yeah, fiberglass is heavy. Longest ladder I had was 40', aluminum box beam. I doubt I could use it now either. I still have a couple 32' ladders, as well as 3 pump jack sets plus extensions. I will probably sell my siding equipment this year, I don't think I will be getting back into it. I will keep my brake and some stuff so I can do window capping, good money in that and not labor intensive.

I currently have a 22 foot extension ladder. A few years ago, I got a ladder stabilizer for the first time, from Craigslist, of course. I don’t know how the hell I lived without that for the first 65 years. I bet ya I slipped down on the ladder a dozen times before that thing.

After I got rid of the squirrel the first time, he went in through the top of the vinyl soffit at the peak of the roof. I could probably reach it if I stood on the top three steps of the 22, but those days are long long gone.

First, I have to catch and relocate or dispose of the squirrel. Second, I have to cut two branches off a sycamore tree that’s probably 30 feet up. That’s where the squirrels are jumping over. I have one of those 6 or 8 foot long chainsaw things so I can do that safely off the top of this ladder. Then, for no more than I have in this ladder, it’ll get left behind the back of the shed of miracles.

@alwaysFlOoReD I understand your idea with the wheels, but it’s all I can do to climb up the thing at this age. I don’t take chances, but I’m not exactly real fast.

@Curious Hound Amen! I had about a 16 foot fiberglass ladder, one time, and rare for me, that thing went away pretty quickly. I take extra precaution when I do electrical off one of the aluminum ladders, but at least I can put them up when I need them.

I've made my own stand offs using EMT conduit and conduit bender. That way I can make them longer than factory, and wider too.

I successfully drilled out an ignition lock cylinder for the first time. It won't win any beauty contests, but the car starts and when the replacement cylinder shows up, I'll be ready to rock and roll.
