What did YOU do today?

Maybe if you keep the battery and steering issues to yourself...
Oh, I certainly wouldn't be mentioning anything about them or the ticking time bomb transmission.

To be fair they wouldn't be mentioning their ticking time bomb transmission either...

I have had a head cold aince the weekend and its finally to the point where everything is draining down from my sinuses. But thay sucks because its non stop coughing all night long.

That's usually how it goes for me as well. I feel for you.

Last night after getting back from getting more water softener salt I did some more cleanup in the shop then found the leak in the air compressor which was the check valve fitting where it screws in the tank so I pulled that out, looks like I put an O ring on it before... put in a new O ring, took two tries to find one that didn't destroy itself :)

Well, I was going to run to the junkyard yesterday for some scouting and to see about a diff cover for the Choptop when my buddy Paul called and asked if I could stop up and fix his sisters car exhaust since it was her only day off and the car needs inspected and I’m the only welder. Fortunately it went really smooth, I cut the damaged section out somewhat arbitrarily and as it worked out, it was perfect for a new resonator and an 18” section of tube. 3 welds and done.

So… junkyard run today and then out to Lisa’s so I can deliver the stuff I’ve been holding for her, throw her other rocker panel on and get her winter tires on so I don’t have to hear about any of that anymore.

Last night more shop cleaning and managed to get rid of more of the leakage on the air compressor, the crimp on the hose at the compressor end wasn't fantastic so I undid that and put two stepless clamps on there, it still leaks since the hose expanded or the barb is too small... still better than it was.

Today so far I jumped on the mower and mowed leaves again and moved a couple things around. Also looked at one of the two ~80' redwood trees is nearly naked and leaning so it might not make it through the winter... it's leaning in a good direction so no worries house or garage wise...

Yesterday was my daughter's wedding. Today was tree cutting at the sportsmans club. The first tree was pretty simple and standard to drop. The second tree was a much more challenging drop since it angled away from where it needed to drop and on a fairly steep slope. That one required a tether hooked up to a vehicle and using wedges to control where the tree fell. That one was a very tiring work out but it dropped where I wanted it. That pretty much did me in for the day.

I do need to look at the tape measure reel to see if I can fix the mount the hangar is attached to and finish recharging the batteries for the little Bauer chainsaw I use to limb dropped trees. That little saw has proven to be a great purchase. I got it for the price of a battery kind of deal that Harbor Freight has from time to time. Buy a battery and pick a tool sale.

So… didn’t make it to the junkyard yesterday… instead I ended up fixing mom’s Explorer and going out to Lisa’s. Got the valve stems changed on the rims and tires and got them on the car so that’s a win. Gonna try to get the one rocker panel on and oil changed tomorrow then back at home to work on my stuff again come Monday. Is what it is.

Was a burn day so I burned the blackberries and whatever else I had in the pile... and emptied the trailer that was attached to the explorer so it's all fresh and empty... Pulled a couple branches that I'd cut earlier in the fall near the pile and cut off what would be reasonable firewood before I burnt the rest.
